Crazy Calliope
Vinyl Album Redesign

This project is an overhaul redesign for the vinyl album cover of "The Crazy Calliope" by Margie Meinert. The original album released in 1957, with bright colors and old-style lettering. However, for the redesign, I wanted to bring a more modern feel to the cover while still paying homage to the original design. To achieve this, I updated the color scheme with muted yet bold colors which I sampled from the original cover. I also incorporated sleek, modern letterforms that still nod to the original typography, but with a contemporary twist.

Overall, I attempted to find the perfect balance between honoring the past design while challenging the future of album artwork.

"The Crazy Calliope" vinyl album cover was a class assignment that I completed in the spring of 2021, as part of a typography class I was taking at the time. It was a challenging yet rewarding project, as it allowed me to put my design skills to the test as a young designer, and experiment with different typography styles and color schemes. Despite the time that has passed since then, I still look back on this project with fondness, as it was a pivotal moment in my design education that helped lay a foundation of my personal style as a designer and artist.
