“Photo Book”
a Photography/Design Student Collaboration
Last spring I had the pleasure of collaborating with a talented photography major, Henry, to create a visually stunning photo book. As a pair, we carefully curated the photos and brainstormed the idea to create a book with his photos that told a story with little to no words.
The concept of a circle was a central theme in our design, as it is with many pieces of mine. We wanted the book to be read in any direction, whether it be forwards, backwards, upside down, or upright, challenging the viewer's traditional way of consuming content. The images were arranged in a way that allowed for a fluid and cyclical experience that emphasized the interconnectedness of the subjects.
Throughout the process, we constantly experimented with different layouts and designs, each time pushing ourselves to create something unique and inspiring.
Our goal was to challenge the viewer's process of creation, from idea to final product, and to encourage them to think outside the box in their own creative pursuit of art.
The end result was a book that we're both incredibly proud of. It showcases the photography major's talent with a camera, and our collaborative design skills to be able to come together and solidify one concept from idea, to completion. We hope that those who view it are inspired by its unconventional design and are encouraged to approach their own creative projects with a fresh perspective.
